The manager of Tazo Food Mart on Calhoun Avenue said thieves entered his business through the roof Monday night, damaging the property and stealing $35,000 in cash, reports stated.
According to Rome police reports:
The manager was notified by his alarm company Monday night that the store’s phone line had been cut.
When the manager arrived he noticed a hole in the roof and the steel safe from under the counter was gone. Police say the burglars also damaged slot machines inside the store, taking all of the coins inside. The manager reported that $35,000 in cash and coins was taken as well as $4,800 in phone cards and $28 in cigarettes.
The suspects were caught on store surveillance.
